I am white and my wife is black... A few years ago we stopped at a gas station at night, four black dudes started yelling racist slurs at me (they were with white women in a mini van)... Then they pulled up behind me blocking my car from getting out of my parking space. They jumped out dragged me out of my car, and lynched me. The fifth guy (skinny crack head) took my wallet, cell phone, keys etc... I had a busted head, teeth through my bottom lip, tons of road rash and I pissed blood for two weeks afterward... But other than that we just ignore ignorant people and it doesn't bother us................................................ ........... Needless to say I carry a gun now so it wont happen that way again.

I'm white and my boyfriend is black. We haven't had to deal with any ignorance. My family has been very accepting of the relationship. I wouldn't date him if I lived in the midwest though 'cause I was raised there and I know how a lot of people are there about interracial relationships. We live in NY though, so it's not an issue around here.

I am in a mixed race marriage, white and Hispanic. And we have not had to deal with any ignorance.

I am still in a happy marriage with a women not the same race as me, and yes the ignorance was legion. Example, when I first sent a pict home, they asked "Isn't she kind of dark?" Also, My sister married 4 times and got flooded with gifts from the family. Me, not even a card saying F off.

I said fine, their loss. They came around after awhile.

I am not in a mixed race marriage, however it is mixed nationality. I am American Chinese and was raised like any American. My husband was born in Singapore, raised in Australia and raised by strict, traditional Chinese parents. They HATE me because I am American. They have never accepted me or our children. Luckily, they are 11,000 miles away and the only ignorance I have had to deal with.

I have dated interacially as far back as the 70's when it was less common. Yes ignorance is everywhere but thankfully there is much less now. Ignorance will never go away completely so accept that and go on with your life.... you have to live with your decisions, not them.
