Hi any food with a high vitamin, mainly veggies, but the are not to appealing. Make sure he takes vitmins everyday, and get some additional iron tablets from the chemist as usually it isnt enough in the everyday vitamins. Do you have a herbal shop in your town/city ? if you do it may be worth popping in and explaning to the person in the shop and they will recommend something, they are very good at what they do and will lead you in the right direction. I always go there first before i got to the doctors as they have something to cure minor problems but obviously not serious illnesses. You can even look on the internet for herbal suppliments for low immune system and see what they recommend. Hope he gets better soon as my immune system was very low and vitamins helped,

youghurt drinks with microorganisms in them. Check to make sure that they're real and not made up microbes though. Anything with lactobacilli are generally good. Also just read a point above, Echineacea is not all it's cracked up to be. I used to take it thinking it would stop colds, then there was a study done on it, comparing people who take the supplement compared to people taking a placebo and there was absolutely no difference.

Vitamin supplements are also a must.
