had totally bumbled the Katrina disaster, what makes you think they will be able to handle another terrorist attack? Why would they make you feel safe?

L3-knightw1zard, that's easy to say...so if your house was on fire, I guess you wouldn't expect the firetruck to arrive to put out the fire?

No Cambion7, I think it is you that needs the education, do you think there couldn't be a terrorist attack just because Bush is president, I wouldn't fool myself, our ports, borders and chemical plants are all open targets, the terrorists are just sitting back and watching our rights get chistled away by our own government.

S H I R A Z I didn't say Nagin wasn't at fault also, I just asked since FEMA and the Feds were so ineffective in SAVING PEOPLE'S LIVES in this particular disaster, why would you feel that this adminstration could keep you safe in the event of another terrorist attack? What do you think they would do??

Another wiggle-out for the Bush Administration:
"Shortly before Katrina hit, she sent (the Govenor) President Bush a request asking for shelter and provisions, but didn't specifically ask for help with evacuations."
She got neither shelter nor provisions either for days and days!

The biggest joke is that W was reelected on the basis that he is a strong wartime president and capable of defending the US against terrorism. Totally laughable.

You need an education. Katrina started out as a problem created by the governor of LA and the mayor of New Orleans both refused federal aid that was offered before Katrina hit. They both poorly managed the evacuation which led to many deaths. Again it's a state issue, not a federal one.
Lastly, during Clintons reign we had several terror attacks on American Interests. Since 9/11 there's been ZERO. I'd say he's doing a pretty damn good job.
On Iraq... we're drawing all of the terrorists into that one spot on the map. It's kind of like putting all of your eggs into one basket. Unfortunately you liberals care more about the feelings of our enemies than you do about the safety of our nation. It's time to decide whose side you're on so when the time comes and we have to take up arms as a civilian militia, we'll know who the enemy really is.
Lastly, it's not the governments job to hold our hand when natural disasters occur. Liberals are too cozy with the communist idea that Government should be the mommy and daddy of its citizens.
Edit: Responding to the askers reply to this post.... typical liberal response. Did I say there would never be an attack? No. I said there hasn't been an attack.

What constitutes bumbled? The flooding was gone in a few weeks when experts were saying it would take years. Around 1000 people died when experts said tens of thousands were feared dead. Relief was there within days and people were relocated and evacuated in less than 2 weeks. If anybody messed up it was the local government. Why have a city and state government when all you have to do is wait for the federal government? The Feds responded better than should have been expected. If my home was destroyed by a natural disaster, it would be my responsibilty to rebuild it. I would not blame the Federal Government for not coming and helping me. As far as another Terrorist attack, there has not been one so I guess they are doing a good job.

So.... why is the federal government and the administration to blame for a state disaster??? Isn't there a separation of powers between the state a federal government?
What exactly does state disaster preparation have to do with a federal response to a terrorist act???
Try comparing apples and oranges next time.
Added:
FEMA was called in by whom????
The Governor refused their help. Learn the way the political system works before you make asinine claims. Neither the Bush administration, nor the federal government have jurisdiction in a state disaster unless specifically requested by the state leadership.
Read a book..... geeze.

I am confused, what did Bush have to do with New Orleans not evacuating their residents?
Or the state of louisiana not having a disaster plan?
You are an idiot just like all the rest of the losers who blame everything on bush.
I was there less than 4 days after the hurricane and there was already a FEMA tent city set up and providing food to the poor people that the LOCAL GOVERNMENT failed.
It is not the responsibility of the federal government to deal with local city issues. Big government is bad.
The government handled 9/11 very well, and that is why I believe they will do fine if there is a next one.

hmm lets look at what happened.
for 2 weeks Katrina was on the weather
1 week ahead of time the media said get out of town
1 week ahead of Katrina Bush met with Nagin and the liberal Governor and said evacuate your people
1.5 days before it hit Nagin said get out and go to the super dome.
the dome leaked
Nagin failed to use buses as outlined in the city's emergency plans
thousands of people refused to leave
Bush sent in the guard and Fema as soon as Katrina passed
how the hell is Bush at fault here?
ill enjoy your hangover in November

Bush did not care about Katrina, if you can call it that.
He is a racist, he paid contractors wearing US Military uniforms, to take out the levy, because the blacks would not sell him their land..
Then he went fishing on the remains, of New Orlands.
George W. Bush is a moran. He should be impeached and executed for high treason of the United States of America.
Hes too stupid to think, he paid his way through elementry, middle, high school. and college, if not he would be stuck in the first grade!
He was never elected either time. He LOST the popular vote TWICE!

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered Her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican." "I am," replied the man. "How did you know?" "Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but, somehow, now it's my fault."

since the bush administration the country has been run straight into the ground.
the few people that still support him dont watch the news, read newspapers or listen to the radio. in fact they dont even exist anymore. bush's cabinet has just added in a number of people (aka people that didnt say who they support) as bush by default. i think the only bush supporters left are bush, dick, and his cabinet.
