People can easily type down names like Bradman, Sobers,
Hutton, Botham etc...etc by quotuing their performances and by supporting statistcs ( copy -paste efforts from cricinfo/statsguru).

But there is one man who stands above all the dead figures and
performances who really enhanced the spirit and soul of cricket as a good leader and player. He seldom smiles at victories or
grims at failures. He commands respect by his deeds on the cricket field and by his great qualities as a true commander.
If conistency, guts , intelligence and performance are to be weighed in corerct proportions, there can only be one answer to this question. He may not be showing-off , he might not be a hard-hitting batter by modern standards, he might not be a world
class bowler or a fielder . But he was a bit of all these summed into a really great sportsman.

Yes, Stephen Rodger Waugh is my answer for this question........
He was a player who should be weighed and measured beyond the frozen figures of statistics and other dumb records.

Sachin Tendulkar

b'coz he can play every shot in books. moreover, he is quite handy as a bowler and above all he is a wondeful fielder.

brian lara is a good batsman but he cannot bowl and fielding is just ok.

ricky ponting is also a good batsman, excellent fielder but can't bowl.

jayasurya is good batsman, good bowler but not good in field.

so, Tendulkar is best....................jai hind..
