If I won the lottery after my hospital was approved by State Aid, do I have to pay back State Aid? I pay back State Aid. I do that. I was admitted to hospital with no insurance and no money bill is overinflated because they applied for state aid then and knew stae would approve. Now, do I negotiate with hospital

You probably signed an agreement when you applied for the aid that said if you ever could repay, you would.

You can negotiate the hospital bill.

So what you're basically saying is that you were hospitalized, applied for state aid to pay the hospital, got approved, thought it was taken care of, won the lottery, opted to pay the state back for the funds they spent to pay for your hospital bill and now the hospital wants some money too?

Long sentence, huh!

Anyway, from the way you put your question together, it sounds like the state already paid the hospital for your stay, and that you've reimbursed the state for the money they spent. As such, the hospital isn't in any position to actually expect further payments....from you or anyone else.

If the hospital wants $$, have them provide proof to you that the state didn't pay them. This will make things much simpler, as either the state took your money but didn't pay the hospital (in which case you can threaten to sue the state for fraudulently accepting your repayment when none was needed) or else the hospital will just drop it because you're not just automatically paying up.

I hope this works out for you, and congrats on winning!

Don't do anything until someone asks you for money. Then see a lawyer.
