Well, Brainy, you just left out a few major facts. First, most Americans are apathetic toward Castro. It is the politicians catering to the Miami Cubans who hate Castro.

It all started with the Russian missiles in Cuba and Castro's communism that set the government against Castro. After the money supply ran out when the Soviet Union imploded, Castro was on his own financially, and became a eunoch politically.

But the US (I believe) would have diplomatic relations with Castro were it not for the hard-core Cubans who continue to think they will someday return to Cuba and reclaim it. After all these generations, we know that ain't gonna happen, but still our political position caters to the Miami Cubans who are basically dictating the policies toward Cuba.

I guess you didn't watch the God Father. The mafia got stiffed by Castro. That put a damper on the mafia money that was lining the pockets of the politicians. That POed the politicians. President Kennedy, whose father made his millions as a bootlegger, still had some close ties to the mob. Crime and politics are pretty close bed fellows.

Their health care isn't worth squat.... women become prostitutes to supplement their income, it still is rampant, other crime is a problem.... political oppression and political propaganda try to hide the problems in Cuba...

But, Americans don't hate Castro.... they hate communism.... Castro stands for communism... his people do not live well....

the measure of a country is taken by how many people want to leave it and how many are trying to get into it..... I would say none are trying to get into cuba... but many would like to leave.... so if things are so great in Cuba, why are so many trying to escape....

Watch the film 13 days with Kevin Costner....I would explain why but I don't have the time...this movie is a very accurate potrayal of what happened between the U.S. , Cuba, and the U.S.S.R

If Cuba and Castro are soooo great, why are 40,000 people a year willing to run the risk of drowning just to get away from it and him? The fact that he aimed nuclear missiles at the US might have something to do with it. Maybe the fact that thousands in Cuba have died just for disagreeing with Castro. Great man that Castro, NOT!!!

Because Castro is a Fascist Pig. Can you honestly think Cuba has been made a better nation since he seized power? Put down the cool aid and step away from the manifesto with your hands up !

Most americans have been conditioned to hate him since they were born. They don't know why they do it, it is something that has just always been done. They don't know the history at all.
