I'm going purely on my gut feeling here (in other words, no real facts!) but I think everyone has lost, including Bush. I also believe Americans are responsible as much as Bush. It's many of our people's apathy, laziness, and ignorance that has allowed our main elected officials to act irresponsibly.

Yes, to some degree.
The problem is, with the mess the world/USA is in now, whether we get a person who simply compounds the errors already made, or one who has a real shot at starting to fix them.
A person who simply doesn't have what it takes to find solutions, and thus lets everything deteriorate further isn't necessarily responsible for the mess. That will already be there before they take office. They wouldn't be worse than Bush; they just might not be stellar enough to clean up the convoluted mess he has made. That fact wouldn't stop people from pointing fingers and screaming about what a terrible President they make. Or ill-informed people from believing it.
Trust me, we can still go down, if too much damage has already been done. Remember, the next President only gets 4 years (assuming they live through it), and they're bound to face some of the most vicious opposition we've ever seen in American politics. If we don't elect a really gifted President, they won't get a second term, and the Republicans will put another neocon in the White House. Then, we can really kiss our butts goodbye.

How on God's green Earth does destroying real wages, infrastructure
Equate to failure.
Look at all the MONEY the business community is making. Look at the War time profit taking. That is a booming success.
Bush has done more for the American aristocracy and Plutocrats than any president. Simply the best.

My goodness , that's a slanted question. ;)
Even if one were to agree with your assessment of Bush (which I tend to), never say that "we could only go up." There are tyrants all over the world right now whom I would pick Bush over in a heartbeat. History has shown that it CAN get worse, so don't just vote for the opposition merely because they are the opposition. If you really want to ensure that we have better candidates, volunteer for one of the campaigns & work to improve our campaign laws.

Yes, I think anyone else would be better (even another moderate Republican and I'm a Dem...anyone else that isn't a total puppet to the corporations).

If you're so unhappy with Bush, why don't you do something about it instead of getting your panties in a wad on Yahoo! Answers.
Do something with your time, instead of bitching, or do nothing and shut the f up

Everytime I tell myself that it can't get any worse, it does. Therefore, although my vote has never gone to Bush - and never will - I inclined to believe taht there are others even worse. We just haven't discovered them yet.
