It's not like crimes that happen against White people are never reported. I lived in Washington D.C. for four years and could always see CNN covering some story of a White girl that had been kidnapped in Aruba or wherever, yet when I go to the post office and see all the faces of the missing Black children, I wonder how come they're not getting any coverage. It's exactly what ChinaDoll says. It's because it was at Duke and people love scandal. If it had been the Black basketball players doing the raping, I'm sure that would have been covered too.

Easy answer. Almost like a recipe that anyone could follow. 1) put him onto an operating table - handcuffed. 2)put his ankles into stirrups - handcuff. 3)move the stirrups up into the birth position. 4)use a pair of shears to chop off his scrotum and penis. 5)cover the wounds with band aid. send to recovery room. Whoops! sorry! forgot about the anaesthetic! OR DID I ? All Mums out there will know exactly what i mean and all the men will be crossing everything but please don't thumb me down on this unless you really have a problem with how i would treat rapists, especially fathers. How can any man do that to his own daughter? or daughters?I really don't think that the country will benefit from incarcerating someone of his mentality. He'd be much better put to work cleaning the grass verges or streets of our country as an eunuch and contributing something back to society than being locked up indefinately. When they have their b*lls adjusted it calms them down - much like a Tom Cat.

I strongly object to your need to mention the race of the accused perpetrators. I am an anti-rape activist and I can assure you first of all that in about 90% of rapes the perpetrator and the victim are of the SAME race and ethnicity, and the incidence of rape is not significantly different for any racial or ethnic group.

Secondly it is not the case that it would be more likely to be reported "the other way around" say for example two white men raped a black woman. Our society and news media are still extremely racist in their actions, because they play off of people's dark side in pursuit of profit. Encouraging and amplifying fear (including racism) = increased attention and viewership = more advertising dollars. Turn on the news any day in any major city and almost all the U.S. news of a negative nature will villanize people of color.

What makes that so newsworthy? People get raped everyday, by men of all races. The Duke incident was in the news beause of the college's reputation, the sheer number of the alleged attackers and the fact that they were so squeaky clean. That's interesting news. Some girl getting raped happens all the time.

I'm sorry... but the race has absolutely nothing to do with the situation. You want it highly publicized just because they are black. Ummm... whats that word again???? Oh yeah... RACIST! Yeah, thats it.
The Duke incident was publicized because HELLOOOOOO... It was Duke University!!!! The media doesn't care about your boss' friends daughter. There are plenty of rapes as well as other crimes that go unreported in the media. Why don't you make a post about all of those too.

According to the statics at the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, there's a rape committed in the US roughly once every three minutes. If the media didn't find something super-sensational to latch on to, this incident has been lost in the shuffle.

Someone has to tell the media this happened. Maybe she doesn't want the media to know. Maybe this is a private matter and she doesn't want the whole world to know. Going thru a rape is very traumatic and everyone deals with it differently.

Noone cares or maybe they are trying to verify her story. If DNA evidence was left behind and these rapers have records, which they probably do, then they will be caught. I am wondering if you would have said she got raped by 2 white men if that were the case.

She was Raped, which was a horrible thing to have happen to anyone....but it happens to at least one in four of us...and it doesn't matter what color the attacker or attackers were...she was raped...and nobody thinks it's news anymore except we who still care, who've been there. She was raped...be good to her and hold her close to you...who cares about the media? Care about her.

Because the supposed incident at Duke involved several men...a gang rape and it was on a prominent college campus. If you notice, not too many rapes are high profile in the news...but they should be, every one of them.
