I love how the first two posters are "automatic" BMW experts. Where do these people come from?

Go to www.carfax.com and get a Carfax report. Ask the seller (or dealer) to give you all the records on the car to check for maintenance history and problems. Finally, get someone who knows cars (a mechanic, etc.) to give the car a good run-over.

What is the model? 1995 BMW does nothing for anyone trying to help you. It's like saying, Is buying a house built in 1995 for $120,000 a good deal? Huh??? Does nothing.

152,000 miles for a BMW is about half its lifespan. My mate just sold his e46 M3 with 290,000 on the clock. Perfect.

Very expensive for the mileage, talk down to high 3s low 4s. Good thing, this car was made in Germany before all the US factories opened. A3&5 series bimmer nowadays are made in the south not Baveria!
P.S. I have an old 4dr 1994 318is, I changed some belts and the tires and the lights. She has less than 50,000 miles. These are some of the best motors BMW has ever made. At 150k any car, despite the brand, is quickly reaching its end.
What series is it?

If your pockets are deep enough, go for it.

I bought a '93 BMW 318i with 186,000 miles. I spent $1,100 on a level 2 surface and then $50 on oil changes every 5,000 miles or so. I had to fix some nominal wear items, but I killed the engine at 209,000 miles. Insurance on the BMW was cheaper then on the Nissan Sentra I was driving at the time.

I bought a '93 Honda Civic DX coupe for $3,500. A few months later, I paid $1,500 for a transmission and a clutch plus another $450 for a tuneup - Honda's aren't panacea either.

cant tell if the car is good or not with out seeing it, some cars at that age have alota life in them, others are almost dead. Before you buy it have a mechanic check it out and do a basic inspection. Some times BMW parts can get expensive, if you ever need a part check ebay or your local junkyards. good thing about an older car is you can take a used but still good part of one that is dead or crashed.

Hi, please save yourself a headache and DON'T buy this car. The maintenance costs and insurance will eat your bank account not to mention that it's a 12 year old car when you look at it. Go buy a car that has about 70,000 miles. Honda, Nissan, or Toyota. These cars are much more reliable. They might not be as cool as a beemer, but you won't have to spend your days wondering whether you will actually be able to get where you want to go. :)

listen, any car that's almost 12 years old cannot be that great. be prepared to pipe thousands of dollars into that old beamer when little things start going wrong, because BMW parts for a car that old will be really expensive, trust me!!!! you should've put that $5,000 down on a newer car, and just financed the balance.

I think the price is a little steep with that many miles on the clock

NOOOOOOO Don't do it that is a RIPOFF. That car was lucky to make it to 152k. Someone got rid of it just in time... Take you 5k and buy a Honda Civic, trust me you will regret buying that BMW SOOOO bad one day.
