The Council is composed of five permanent members — China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States. These are also the major nuclear powers. The question is, has nuclear weapon provided peace for the last 60 years or the UN security council?

The Nuclear Deterrent has avoided direct conflict between the major powers. Peace is relative. There has been no WORLD WAR... touch wood..
There is no point any more. The Nuclear deterrent works as an avoidance of large scale warfare. The developing world will continue to draw their borders with blood based on conventional warfare for some time to come.

I think that the UN has caused more problems than it has solved.
I don't think the UN could keep peace in a day care center.
