We have already covered this material. It's called "The Bill of Rights" and includes our right to peaceably assemble and associate.

Getting rid of these rights is a mistake for a number of reasons.

1. It would require a consitituional amendment which is nearly impossible to accomplish.

2. It would usurp a necessary freedom that we all enjoy.

3. It is completely unnecessary since any acts performed by secret societies are held to the limits of the law. That is to say if you formed a secret society of "Haters of Pink Haired People" you would be free and able to sit around in your basement and say anything about Pink Haired People that you wanted. You could even write up the Pink Haired Haters Weekly and publish and distribute it.

If, however, you were to attempt to cut off someone's pink hair, that would then constitute assault and you would go to jail.

Chances of you ever holding an office under the circumstances are slim to none.

No. People have a right to belong to any group they wish as long as they're not going out and causing hate and discontent. The "secret society" you're talking about, the Freemasons, is a Christianity-based service organization. I belong to its sister organization, Order of the Eastern Star, and I do so with pride. We have a right to keep the particulars of what we do and believe from non-members just like private citizens have a right to keep their family traditions and recipes within their family.

Ain't no lately about it. American presidents have been members of dozens of "secret" societies since the founding fathers.

Masons
Rosicrucians
Elks
Moose
and others.

You can't ban secret societies in America! There are 34 nations in America, can you imagine the amount of political will needed in all those countries for a single purpose?

I find this illogical.
If you know about a certain society, then it is not a secret.
If it is a secret society, how are you going to know who is a member? Documentation which is not standardized is no good, and if you ask the person and they tell you, then it is no secret.
So this makes no sense.

The constitution (1st Amendnment, freedom of Association) allows them to be a member of any group they want, and fobids the govt from requiring disclosure of group memberships.

If people don't want their elected officials to be members of a group, then the people should force those candidates to answer the question before the vote.
