Franklin Roosevelt's speech writer coined that phrase, and FDR used it in his inaugural speech in 1933. JFK didn't say it.

Yes, it is self-defeating to scare Americans into being supportive enough to keep Bush's programs going so we can defeat terrorism by feeding a gluttonous white elephant like the "Department of Homeland Security."

But, hey, Bush got re-elected,and that's all he was interested in.

You say they're trying to scare Americans as if there is nothing to fear. What the administration has said over and over again is that we must go on about our daily lives.

"the best defense is a good offense" we are not acting scared and cowering to these terrorists. We are being proactive and aware of our risks and our environment. To not do so would be foolish. Like sheep being led off of a cliff.

Yes, very much so. They keep us cowering in fear so that we trust them and they can stay in office. And the terrorists know the average American is scared s***less and they will use it to their advantage.

it was recorded as JFK spoke it, thats what happened to it
