I've been pondering this for some time. Conservatives are for small government, but they have no problem using laws to enforce morals to protect our children etc... I remember my Connecticut senator Joe Lieberman went after violence in video games some time in the past, and he's sort of a closet Republican if you ask me. It seems Conservatives should be against censorship if they wish to preserve the constitution.

That's a good question. I think the general position is that the people, not a judge, should decide what is obscene and what isn't, like they did for the first 150-some years of this country. Obscenity was defined by the communities - just like harassment today is defined by the perceiver of the harassment.

Because only so much is acceptable in public. Conservatives support some level of censure of obscene or explicit stuff in public.

For the no censorship at all folk, that's the Libertarians.

I see censorship whilst it bargains with the secure practices of our troops. i think of traitors that show secrets and techniques to the clicking could be hung. different that that i see little or no reason for censorship. There should be a reasonably elementary way for human beings to censor television for their babies. it is the main suitable of the be certain to regulate what a newborn sees till they think newborn is sufficiently old. besides the fact that it is going to no longer ought to take the be certain all day screening the shows. it is why rankings have been started. the government could have little to no administration. As you could discover, the marketplace confirmed that information media became into too left biased. it is why such many human beings think of this is mainstream. if all of it leans left, it must be centrist. the buyer regarded for opposing perspectives and located talk radio and FOXNews started. It became into marketplace pushed. i do no longer think of the college could be making use of books for indoctrination as some instructors needless to say are. they should prepare with out bias or discover yet another activity. college isn't assume to be indoctrination camps. A instructor that derides a newborn for asserting he might vote for McCain has no place in the college gadget. this is named newborn abuse at present. i do no longer care if the instructor is republican or democrat. Rights enable the be certain to regulate what a newborn learns and whilst. it is the activity and maximum suitable of the be certain and no person else.

I've always thought Lieberman was a closet Republican, sort of made me a bit leery when Gore choose him for a running mate, I think that was part of Gore's demise (along with a "Willie Horton" type of campaign from Rove).

Oh, and I am against censorship in any way, shape or form!

I think I would mostly be considered conservative. I am for censorship (for minors) b/c I am concerned about the children who don't have anyone guiding them in life. However I make decisions based on individual topics. I don't just agree with or disagree with something b/c I am considered a conservative. Some things I am conservative on, some things I am liberal on. I think it is stupid to decide on something before becoming informed on it.

No the only ones for censorship and violating your freedoms are the democraps. Just look at what they are doing to ABC because of the movie the Path to 911. Funny thing that you didn't hear or see the Bush Administration try to censor or stop Micheal Moore from publishing his lie filled movie.

I am normally against censorship. However, I do believe that it can be abused and harmful to society. Frankly, I hate the things that people do and hide behind free speech as anexcuse for terrible actions.

Libertarians are against censorship.

Conservatives, with their Bibles by their side, tend to favor censorship in the media. They only side with groups like the ACLU when religious speech is being curbed (ex. religious speech in prisons.) But generally, they put a lot of effort towards fining Howard Stern and putting NetNanny on all computers everywhere. ;)

hence the reason this administartion is not conservative. I am, and I have changed my party affiliation to libertarian, true conservatives! I don't think that most 'cons' would like trus conservatism...it means they have to parent their own children, they can't follow the almighty dollar (outsourcing jobs), and their religion has no place in my uterus.

Yelling fire into a crowded theater causes chaos, and harm. Expressing your opinions do not.

No not at all

Conservatives think you should not be allowed to do or say anything that is not first taught at Bob Jones University.

No, conservatives are very fond of censorship. Remember when they wanted to cover up that statute in Washington?
