He had it cut off in a duel and the prosthetic was made of gold and silver. They say it was so skillfully put on you couldn't tell it was a prosthetic...but even in his portraits I can see there is something wrong so I am betting it was not that good.

To the best of my knowledge, Tycho's nose was made of silver, as he lost most of it in a duel. He was a bit of a character, a womanizer and a party animal. He died because he drank too much wine and his bladder burst. (It was considered rude to excuse yourself from the presence of the king to go to the bathroom).
He and Kepler worked together somewhat, but he was always a bit wary of Kepler.
Brahe had the best astronomical observatory of the time and his method were exemplorary. He had all the necessary data Kepler needed to make a major breakthorugh in celestial mechanics, but Brahe wouldn't give the data up. It drove Kepler nuts. But Kepler finally got the data after Brahe died.
A little more than you were looking for, perhapse, but it is a story that bears telling.

His nose was partially cut off in a duel with swords, and he wore a prosthetic nose made of silver and gold.
