It depends on where you live . In Miami only Crackers are white. then you have the Off whites in the Puerto Ricans, Cuban and Mexicans. They are different from the Spanish who are from Andolusia and ride horses. They are sometimes white especially some of the women, but some of the men are dark. The Miami Italians are really New Yorkers. None came from Italy. Except Cristopher Columbus who was from Genoa but had a Hispanic crew. You also have Seminoles who are not from Florida but Crackers brought them to the Everglades and they developed alligator wrestling and casinos. Now the Miami Cubans say they are Spanish but the are all colors. The Puerto Ricans are all colors too. Some even have red curly hair and blue eyes with dark skin. Some have a light mother and a dark father. None are Italian. Some of them are from New York too. The New York italians and New York Puerto Ricans don't always like each other. Some darker ones are from Haiti and from Tabago. They are usually the darkest ones in Miami. There are a lot of different colors in Miami. Some of the exiles from Cuba are dark.. The Mariel Cubans are not like the Hispanic Cubans and the Mexicans. They are the poor ones and came to America when Carter and Castro made a deal. There are more colors in Miami but its hard to describe all of them. But don't get me wrong there are still a lot of White Franco Spaniards in Miami who long for the good old Aryan days.

I've been to Spain and stayed for five months in Andalucia (where Antonio Banderas is from) and I've seen a lot of darker skin people there (flamenco dancers and gypsies) who would claim that they're Spanish. So what's wrong with being a "brown italian". Maybe they just have deep tans (look at the Gotti brothers). Besides, what's so great about looking like Antonio Banderas anyway? Isn't he like 60 years old?

I have worked in Milano. Their skins were white. Southern Italians are very dark skiinned. Both are Italians. I had a friend, who was came from Accra, Africa. He called himself Black. I, in all innocence, viewed him as Brown. I am 4 traceable fishing folk generations white English, yet live with people called British, who are all shades of skin colours. There are light coloured and dark coloured skins in Spain. Remember, when the Moors lived there? Spain has the beautiful Moorish Alhambra which illustrates what I am trying to say.
On forms, I now have to tick boxes, which gives any nationality but English to tick. The UK government are killing the white English. I usually tick... other... and qualify, by then writing English. The computer probably translates this, by marking me as a European. Sad, isn't it?

How can you be a brown italian? but i'm guessing if you're dark colored and was born in Italy. that seems the only way for that to be so but that still doesn't make sense. and another thing be careful what you right. why do they have to be considered brown trash just because you don't understand something, don't be ignorant. but anyway that's the best answer i can come up with.

they are white basically darker in complexion than those of the north. in addition they look distinctive. There eye colorations are actually not blue, green and gray like those of the north and statistically no longer as tall(no attempting to offend) although human beings of Portugal and Spain tend to have Blue green and gray eyes and and so on because of the fact they have are descended from a Germanic tribe.... alongside with Berbers(the Berbers many times recruited West Africans into there armies) and Arabs.

my husband is Italian, he has black wavy hair and blue eyes and the white skin, but he does not consider himself white. They might say they are white because when they are filling out something about what group they are from, there is not a choice for Latin, just white(not hispanic).... and Antonio Banderas is not Italian, he is Hispanic

It is a relatively recent development in USA. Prior to 1950's they did not share the arbitrary classfication.

The fact of the matter is the way people sort nationality depends on where your from . My family is half SOuth American and growing up I never considered Italians white or Arabs .But when you come to north America they are . I went to germany to vist family members once and this discussion came up . They do not consider Mediteranians their white . By Us census Palestinians are white !!!
In fact most Southern italians are mixed .
This website discusses classifications in the united states . I asked a question regarding this .And some guy became upset that he believed people where lying and were actually white and not admitting it ? go figure
it depends on the Italian your speaking to as well .
I have a friend who is sicilain with dark skin and his hair is more like an afro and he says most southern Italian do not like to admit their heritage is mixed as they find it an insult to them ....
