Funny, and obviously not legit. If this ever did happen with a real child, firstly I would call the police. Then depending on your abilities either adopt the child or let the proper authorities do their thing.

i might call the police first, just to make certain the youngster wasn't a sufferer of being abducted, then left at the doorstep by the kidnapper who might have feared getting caught. i might then save on with the advice of the police.
