My Friend often forgets what is he saying , and hurt me by saying rude words , I have pointed out his way of talking some times but there is no change in his attitude, Some Time I feel He is not able to digest that I am at higher position then he is, he used to be smarter in our childhood , but no time is same ever.. and today earn more.I always try to take care that he don't get hurt but he aways speak raw, If I don't talk at all then he assume I feel vanity, now I want to answe his scarstic comment but don't know how, so that he understand that how do he hurt others by his comments , and he never realize that he did say wrong , never he feel sorry.

How can he realize his mistakes.

I ask him My best friend still , becoz there was a time we did a lot for each other, but its too mean to remind what all we did for each other , I got hurt badly when instead of listening him in usual manner i said back something in his language, and alas,, he could not accept sam ekind of comments what he usually used to throw on me,, and then the worst thing happen , he made me remind that he helped me in solving problems in my studies so if I am sitting on a big chair today , I should not forget that he used to teach me, then I simply didnot answered him, becoz I dont wanted to pull all these mean stories like if he helped me in computers I helped him in Maths ... and at the age of 30 if he make me remind of the help he did when we were in early 20 ....... I know he will be upset losing me and so I too,,, so I wanted to find a way where he know what he talk and we don't lose friendship.... you guys know I never want to explore his mistakes but jst want to make him know grwup

The good way:
If he is dragging you a step down , Put your effort to hit rock bottom and tell Is this what you want...(you still need to show that it was in you capacity to perform better than rock bottom- but stoop to rock bottom)

the wicked way:
Fire back , call him a worthless piece of S**t and i cant take it longer.

he will never realize his mistakes. but you also needs to stop covering for him. maybe he has gotten so used to you coming to his rescue, that he probably thinks, it does not matter what i say or do, YOU will be there to clean up the mess and make everything right again.
instead of babying him, and i know it is hard, stop helping him.if he gets into a jam, let him find his own way out. he probably does not think he does anything wrong because you are behind him cleaning it up.
plus if his ego was bigger in your childhood, maybe the mentally is already at a place that wont come or agree to change.
you just continue to be you, but let him get out of his own troubles. if enough people stop talking to him and dealing with him because of his attitude, he might think why doesnt nobody want to talk to me, and figure out for himself, what he does wrong

Spoken words are volatile.

Try to make him write down his opinions, then kindly point out the intrinsic incoherences of those written words.

Respect his pace though. It's not always easy to face one's own incoherences.

But given that he is your friend, I am sure you'll know how to protect him from losing his landmarks.

Maybe this yahoo-question (and the answers it got) I saw yesterday can help you:

Find out if he's alcoholic- "Arguing with a drunk is like wrestling with a pig- you both get dirty but the pig likes it."

first stop calling him "Best friend" and second stop calling him "Friend". that'll solve everything.
