Yes. I use aquaphor on my childrens eczema sometimes too. But if you want something that is more like a lotion than an ointment try Cetaphil lotion (the generic brand at wal-mart is just as good & less expensive). They also make a wash that is really good, I use the wash & the lotion on all 4 of my kids. Another way to help with the eczema is when you bathe him put a cup of baking soda in the water, it makes the water really soft & makes the skin soft too. I use all of these, all 4 of my kids have eczema. Good luck.

yes, i've used it. It's not bad, it helps, but didn't cure it. Also try Eucerine. The key is to protect the skin against irritants. So you just have to apply frequently. Aquaphore is easier to apply and sticks on the skin a little easier. But I think Eucerine moisten the skin a little better. You can do both. Also avoid washing with any type of soap, just in luke warm water only, and if possible, not bathing everyday. Water also dries the skin. If the rashes are really bad and itchy, you may need Hydrocortison too to ease the itch. The more scratching makes it worse too.
Also, eczema is often caused by allergy (food, or clothes). Since it's all over your son's body, you may want to change laundry detergent to Dreft to see if it make a difference.

Aquafor is wonderful, as well as Aveeno products, gold bond, etc.
And just the FYI, eczema is not a result of food allergies (as was posted earlier). I have Eczema and my sister has Psoriasis. My father had Psoriasis as well. It's a genetics thing, unfortunately. My dad got it before he was a teen and therefore, grew out of it. My sister and I got it well into our late teens early 20's and now are stuck with it. That's not to say that your son won't grow out of it, but I wanted to be sure you understood that a food allergy reaction is very different from Eczema.
I can agree with the other comment (in that same post) that you may want to consider buying a laundry detergent that is perfume free/dye free. I have used both "All-Free and Clear" as well as "Arm and Hammer Perfume Free/Dye Free" and they are wonderful. This also works out so that you are not buying 2 different kinds of detergent, since it works on either sets of laundry (yours and baby's).
Also, check your bathing products. Aveeno and Huggies make some wonderful bath products for babies with sensitive skin (especially eczema) and they are super gentle. Also NO bubble bath (other than squirting some of the above bath products in the water) as it will make the skin worse.
And you may want to consider putting a cool-mist humidifier in baby's room (not next to him, but in his room). It will help to keep the air moist and reduce the likely hood of eczema flare ups due to dry skin. In the winter my eczema is much worse because of the forced hot air; it dries the air out something fierce, so the cool-mist humdifier/vaporizer puts some of that moisture back into the air.
And a last kind of "homeopathic" remedy (that works really, really well) try taking your son to the beach. The salt air and salt water will do wonders! (plus, he'll have a really good time!)
I can sympathize with you and for your son. All the best!

my daughter has eczema too, REALLY bad. weve seen several doctors to include a dermatologist and we have used aquafor, it helps a little, but they wanted me to put it on her like 5 times a day, the stuff is like vaseline its very greasy, and that would mean that she would have to wear long sleeves and pants, in the summer time that just wasnt going to happen. we put it on her at bed time only and it does help to an extent. since your son has it on his torso, you can put it on him several times a day. some other things you may want to try are Amlactin (that is a really strong lotion, the only problem is if there are any cuts or scratches on the skin it burns) ive found that to work the best for my daughter. also cetaphil body wash and lotion is great. you could try giving him an oatmeal bath, aveeno sells it in packets that dissolve in the water, there is a wal mart brand that works just as well too. ive also been told that Johnsons soothing naturals works well. and a humidifier in his room at night will help too. good luck with this, i know its tough.

I've tryed everything for eczema... hydrocortizone is the only thing that worked. careful not to put too much, and when the rash is gone use a galaxal base lotion, once you see the red raw skin again, put the cortisone again.... it will go away, it just takes a little time.... cortisone eases the itch and the burning.... not too much water and baby oil is a no no, try not to use fabric softener and creams with fragrances are not recommended.

I used both aquafor and eucerin on my son and daughter at the same time at the suggestion of his ped. It seemed to work pretty good. I'd use it again and have suggested it to others who have used it. DD's ped also advised to bathe her with soap only when necessary and use facial cleanser for very sensitive skin. Check with his daycare to make sure they are not over cleaning him after he eats. Tell them to only use water, etc.

We are using it for our son to keep it moist when it is dry and we use hydrocortizone during flare-ups. Since we have been using the Aquaphor he has had much fewer flare-ups which have been less severe.
