As long as stress and non-stress tests are normal, and placental function is normal, there is no reason to interfere with a post dates pregnancy. I would not allow anyone to go over two weeks, but up until that point, it is completely okay.

If she was due on the 25th, then I believe the latest she should wait would be this weekend. Although a lot of doctors won't even let it go that far. They usually want to wait until about 41-42 weeks. Which obviously would be 1-2 weeks after the due date. My doctors aren't even going to wait that long. They don't want to let the baby get too much bigger for me.

Most doctors will not let you go past 10 days from your due date though I have heard of some letting them go 14 days (2 weeks).

I was 2 weeks past due when I went into labor and the doctor told me he was going to induce that day.

So I will say 2 weeks.

My doctor told me with my last baby they wouldn't let me go more than 7 days past my due date. On the 7th day they would induce if I didn't go before then. I don't know if different doctors have different opinions on this matter.

they should take her now. I was due the 11th of september and they took me on the 17th. She was 10 pounds and got caught on my pelvic bone. I think she'd still be in there if they hadn't taken her. This "They will come when ready" is a bunch of bull. When they break her water, they'll check for maconium(SP?? It's a when a baby poops in the womb.) If so, they will check the babies lungs as soon as it is born. This happened with both my kids. Tell your sister in law to demand to be taken in before the weekend. Good luck to her.

Usually 2 weeks is what they say, but as long as baby and mom are monitered there is no problem with going another 2 or 3 weeks.

2 weeks.

The due date is an average, meaning many would be earlier, and many would be later. 1-2 week is the range. The norm is you'd be induced if 1 week over due.

Humans can gestate up to 43 weeks and still be OK. She's not even to week 42 yet so she still has time. Paranoia surrounding pregnancy is why doctors are eager to induce babies before they are ready.

Generally, no doctor will let someone go past 2 weeks overdue. I have had 3 different ob's and this was their policy everytime.
