Get down on her knees and immediately administer first-aid for this condition: a B-job. He'll be back earlier than expected from then on.

If you've talked with him about this problem and he chooses to ignore your requests then do the following:

1. When dinner is ready, serve it and clean up afterward. He'll have to get his own meal when he gets home.

2. If you have plans for the evening and he doesn't show up, go without him.

3. Don't say anything to him, just go on about your business, be happy and pleasant. (He'll feel guilty or should).

If it is his job that causes him to be late, then you must realize that it's not his fault. Try to accommodate him the best you can without disrupting the life of your children. In other words, don't make your children wait until 7:00 p.m. to eat dinner. Serve dinner to them at 5:00 p.m. and save enough for your husband to eat when he gets home.

Don't spend your free time fretting over his late arrival, instead do something constructive that will benefit your future. Perhaps taking a night course at your local high school in quilting, knitting, English, or some other subject would not only be fun but would enable you to meet new people and make new friends. I wish you well.

Lesson, or listen.??
Wife is suppose to talk with husband, not to him. He not listen because he not want to hear harangue. He told you before why he late. You no believe him then, an you want him to tell you something else, maybe, that is lie?
Quit asking, and find out. Hire investigator, or someone to watch when he get home from work. He probably have girlfrend on side; maybe family.

Well, i think the wife should try to ask her husband where exactly he was but this should be done a friendily manner, much as she's furious she should control her anger or else he willn't answer truthfully..... communication is lacking in this relationship....

Wife should think about other ways of dealing with the problem, you don't say how often this happens and if you are nagging!! as they like to call it.

You need to take control of him. If it's not too late to do so, you must let him know that from now on you are in charge and he must do as he is told.

Does he have stains in his shorts? Is there lipstick on his crotch? You really fail to say why he should listen to you. You sound like you expect him to be very punctual, not gonna happen. Us guys work hard and sometimes we go out with our friends after work and ripped. Deal with it. To all you other splittails that say toos him out. Be glad we don't come home and beat your butt.
