For a long time through my teenage years goths have told me that the reason they dress the way they do, is because they hate comformaty. To me they look the same with each other, isn't that comforming? Is it possible not to comform?

The best way to not conform to not think about it. Just wear what you like, no matter what it comes from. People that act all superior because they're "goth" are conforming. I wear what people would consider "gothic" most of the time, but I don't do it because it's goth, or not popular or whatever. I wear it because I like it.

First of all, it's conform, not "comform."
Second, yes they are right up there. Anyone who dresses to fit in with a crowd picked for juvenile reasons is a conformist. Not only that, but they've decided to conform with other people who can't think for themselves.
Just because you choose a different fashion statement than some people do, doesn't mean you're not into "fashion." Being weird doesn't make you cool or hip. Being weird in a proscribed way that matches the weirdness of thousands of other weirdos is just disturbing.

Yep, they conform to what they feel their friends like.... to be a true non-conformist, u just buy what u like, without thinking of anything else.
