In november I need to travel from Bombay to Shanghai but not on an aeroplane. How on earth do I find a boat that might be going there?

If you're having problems finding information via the web, can I suggest you try using the name Mumbai instead of Bombay?

http://www.peaceboat.org/english/voyg/past.html looks interesting but might be going in the wrong direction.

Maybe try contacting a few of the Cargo Ship agents based in Mumbai.

Good luck.

No regular passenger boats buddy. You can get in touch with some cargo/ shipping companies. Some of them take you on as workers in freighters. That way you can earn your way through. This used to be the way to see the world before the aeroplanes. You can also go in as a stowaway..........but you would have to find a way to get into the port..........with all the security and stuff nowadays........all the best
