A non-chicken laid the egg that developed a mutation that hatched and had it's own little babies and those babies are what we call chickens.
So the chicken came before the first laid CHICKEN egg.
But the mother of the chicken laid a non-chicken egg before the first chicken was born.
SO it depends on how you define the egg. Is a chicken egg laid by a chicken or does it contain the chicken?
