First of all, I say championships are irrelevant (to an extent). To say championships are a true measure is like saying that no great quarterback ever played on a lousy team - which is, absolutely, not the case. Otherwise someone might say David Woodley was one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. Anyone agree with that? lol
Anyway, I will list some of my favorites - as it's really all subjective, anyway......
Steve Bartkowski
Dan Fouts
John Elway
Dan Marino
Peyton Manning
Archie Manning
Richard Todd
Tommy Kramer
Danny White
Joe Ferguson
Jim Kelly
Ken Anderson
Otto Graham
Roger Staubach
Sammy Baugh
Bobby Lane
Fran Tarkenton
John Unitas
Joe Namath
Joe Montana
Steve Young
Craig Morton
Don Meredith
Don Strock
Doug Flutie
Warren Moon
Drew Bledsoe
Brian Sipe
Jim Plunkett
Terry Bradshaw
Ben Roethlisberger
Jim Hart
Neil Lomax
Steve Grogan
Joe Theismann
Jim Zorn
Dave Krieg
Bernie Kosar
Doug Williams
Brett Favre
Greg Landry
Bob Griese
Earl Morrall
Steve DeBerg
Walter Payton (He did play QB for the Bears and would have been pretty good if that were his regular position. One of the best ever? Who knows.)
Many more I could list, but you get the idea.... :)

This is a no win question...but from my standpoint, Joe Montana is:
-won 4 Super Bowls in 1982, 1985, 1989, and 1990
-MVP of 3 of those Super Bowls
-a repeating league MVP in 1989 & 1990
-started for 10 straight years in San Francisco
-8 Pro bowls
-ZERO interceptions in the Super Bowl!
-Who knows how many come from behind victories!

it's tough to compare statistically because over the years the nature of the game has changed so drastically. The passing game used to be what they called a vertical attack. Much lower percentage of completions vs much greater rewards for success as the passes were much more often deep down field. My top 3 are Otto Graham, Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana. Compared to their contemporaries they were statisically dominant (I think comparing QB's to the other QB's of theire era gives a better idae of how they rank all-time) AND they were also all winners of multiple championships.

Joe Montana (and i'm a big Marino fan)
Dan Marino
Dan Fouts
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady (he has the results, but I'm not sure how much of it is because of him? or the team he was on? Sorta like mediocre Aikman being a HOF because he was on a great team.)

I would say the future all time greatest QB will be Tom Brady. He's got 3 rings already and if he gets some more in this age of parity among teams, he will be greater than Joe Montana.

My criteria for great quarterbacks are the following...
1.Longevity 2.The ability to elevate the players around him 3.The ability to play within a system 4.Championships.
That having been said...
ALL-TIME = Joe Montana
TODAY= Tom Brady
