What you truly favor to do is discover diverse rear end gears for the F250. i do not keep in mind what diverse ratios thoughts were attainable from Ford in 'ninety 9. also, what engine? First, verify the aspects Dept at your community Ford broking. Secondly, study aftermarket vendors. you'll in all probability might want to interchange the speedometer equipment too. i'd not evaluate replacing with a F150 rear end. completely diverse vehicles (or do you've the "gentle duty" F250?). total diverse tale.

Although a numerically lower gear will produce better mileage it will reduce load hauling ability.

What would be best is to modernize it by installing an overdrive transmission from a later model F250 whether auto. or manual.

Oh... and an electronic ignition even if its just an aftermarket points to magnetic pick-up conversion(approx. $80) if you want better gas mileage.
