Every internet website is "hosted" on a server somewhere around the world. In order for people to be able to view your website, you need to find a host. There are 2 types of hosts that you should probably be looking at: free hosting and virtual (shared) hosting.

Free hosting is exactly that; free. The downside to free hosting is that you may end up with ads around the edges of your website placed there by your host. There are also content and traffic limitations, too. You won't be running the next big internet craze off a free host. If that doesn't bother you, then you're set.

Virtual hosting is when you buy a hosting 'package' from a hosting company. This package may range from $5 to $100, depending on what you want. You get space to host your website files, services to assign your own domain name, and enough bandwidth to support your site, for whatever amount of traffic you'll be getting. You have more freedom with this type of hosting because you are a paying customer.

There are other types of hosting, such as server rentals and co-location, but those types are reserved for heavy-duty websites that support massive amounts of users and lots of content.

Its what you purchase to get your website widley open to the world. You can host websites on your PC but once your PC is switched off your website is down. So when you buy web hosting or web space you are buying a small part of a bulky machine that keeps your site online all of the time, well almost all of the time.

As for your second question, its is a very very very good idea if you run a website, i dont want to bash yahoo! or Pizco but you want space that isnt attacked by ads, so i suggest searching for some nice website hosting packages, they can cost a lot sometimes but not always.

www.servage.net is my choice but others may be cheaper depending on how big your site is, and how many visitors you are receiving.

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that provides individuals, organizations and users with online systems for storing information, images, video, or any content accessible via the Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center.

I'm a web designer and you have to have one if you want to make a site. Here's the best one and cheap too:

Web Hosting is the place where the person desiring to create his/her own web page(s) can go upload files & other media so that others can stop by that particular web page to view the contents. There are some sites that allow free web hosting, but most of the time there are bandwidth limits (a certain limit on how many times your page can be viewed). Others charge a nominal fee & have large to unlimited features. I hope this helps...

Hi, you will need web hosting because you need to 'store' your website on a computer - a web 'server' and keep it live every day so that users can visit your website.

Hosting is provided by companies who offer storage space on their servers - they 'host' or 'keep' your site for you on their computers/systems - or you can have your own personal server.

You can have free hosting or you can pay for it - generally speaking if you pay for the hosting it should be better, have more benefits.
