i dont get factors!!!!!!!!?

sum1 please explain them to me! like how do u get the factors or 981 without spending an hour and without using the net!

so 3*329.there is divisibility by 9 so 9*109
so the factors are
1*981,3*329,9*109

easy

do the sum, 9 + 8 + 1 = 18. then sum again, 1 + 8 = 9

9 is a multiple of 9, and of 3, so 981 can be divided by 3 (and by 9).

so divide by 3, you get 327.

no sum again, 3+2+7 = 12. And 1+2 =3.

so 327 can be divided by 3 also.

so divide by 3, you get 109

now what about 109? 1+0+9 = 10, and 1+0 = 1. So it cannot be divided by 3 (or 6, or 9). It of course is not even so 2 won't work either. 5 won't work because it doesn't end with a 5. there is no trick for 7 but if you do the division you'll find that 105 can be divided by 7 so 109 would leave a remainder of 4, so it doesn't work. 8 clearly is no go you'd have needed to be an even number for a start. 10 clearly won't work because it would need to end with a 0. And 11 is clearly too large because 11*11 = 121 larger than 109 i.e. no need to look beyond 10.

So 109 is a prime number that cannot be divided further.

So 981 = 3 * 3 * 109

there is no magic trick, but it's pretty easy, just go one step at a time

(1) So then you have 9 * 109 then you have 9 again
(2) 09 is not a multiple of nine, so then you are done, just split the 9

R U sure about being a math teacher? Factors or Factoring simply means or tells u to 'break it down' the resulting parts when multiplied together give u the whole.

For ex. the factors of 4 are 1,4,2 since 4= (1)(4) and (2)(2) is 4
