Whenever i scroll down on the internet, it takes ages to go down. It seems like the screen has layers. I have tried Defragmenter and disk cleanup but it is still the same.

there is one solution to this,go to start>control panel>mouse>wheel and increase the amount of lines you want to use....i normally set it at 4 lines as this gives a smooth scrolling action
by the sounds of it you have it set at 1 or 2 ,this will give a layer effect, set it a 5 if you have to,or it may just need 3...its a case of trial and error, and find the setting that suits you
also it might be a good idea to look in internet options>advanced and check to see if there are any options in the graphics section of this that can be unticked to give the internet explorer a better display
you should also update your graphic drivers and make sure you have the latest internet explorer updates, and in the veiw option on the i.e toolbar go to character encoding and make sure it is set to unicode ,and page style to basic, you can also try "no style to see if it makes any difference
one last test is to go to display properties>settings>advanced>monitor>and set the refresh rate to the highest that the monitor can handle, there should be a box ticked that will stop you setting the monitor to a refresh rate that your monitoor cant handle
try these tests and if you manage to crack it,will you let me know, the feedback will be intresting
good luck

Is this on every page you visit? If so, then you might have a problem. If it only happens on pages with a lot of content and Flash animations, then it's just the speed of your computer. You can try a System Restore and see if that clears up the problem. Have you installed anything before you noticed the problem?

try using your mouse and click the down arrow on your messages that are trying to read and then use the mouse "circle" to read the material.. Also try to scan your computer with your Virus network. You may have been sent a "worm" of some sort that's slowing your computer..I suggest McAfree Virus scan..its 34 bucks a year and well worth every penny..

You either have too much on the computer or it has a virus.
