It sure is mate, I'm 43 and find most of the music today bloody horrible, although I do like a lot of it, I just cant stand the horrible dance music, u know the music u need to be on drugs to dance to. I still love a lot of the music from the 70's, but that was my era, I didn't like a lot of the 80's, some was OK, but in general I didn't like it, new generation I believe a lot of it was called then. Just accept it, were all getting older, end of.

I'm over 35 and I do listen to the new music that is out now. I love everything, alternative, pop, punk, emo, etc,, The only 2 kinds of music i can't stand are rap and country. Both make me gag. But in answer to your question, I totally agree! Sometimes when I here a song from back in the day I can't believe how cheesy and awful it sounds! Some of them were songs that were my favorite and I remember me and my friends screaming in excitment when the radio would play them! Now I"m like "wtf was I thinking???",,,escpcially some of the 80's stuff. At least the 70's were a little less cheesy! But that doesn't go for all the tunes from those decades, some of it still rocks. I have neices and nephews that are all about the 80's songs now. Cracks me up, it's so new to them, and so old to me!

I'm 35 but I still play the old stuff. But... there's some good stuff around at the moment. Maximo Park's CD was top, and if you want some good dance stuff, then DJ Shadow's new CD should be good as well. I heard a band called 'The Bishops' the other night and they sounded interesting.
But, we are getting old. It now takes 3 days to get over a hangover, whereas 4 minutes sleep and a fry up used to suffice. And my hair loss is a more obvious sign of getting old than anything else. As Harry Hill said, "You know you're losing your hair, when it takes longer to wash your face in the morning."

I do like some of the music today but alot of it sounds the same artists are'nt distinctive like they used to be. In the good old days lol you knew who sang what ,everyone had a voice be it Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond the Bee Gees do you get what I'm saying, yes I do feel ancient now when I think of it but what the heck, I actually still like alot of the 70's and 80's stuff some was awful like the Bay City Rollers (sorry if you liked them) but ohh happy memories . These days I can't always tell the difference between Beounce and Rihana. Bring back the voices of the 70's!

Some of the modern music is good, some is crap, just like back then. However, there really isn't anything that I liked then that I cringe at now. If anything, it is the other way around. I am now appreciating music that I hated back then, like 70's disco, for example. At the time, I was all "Death to Disco" and all into rock, but 30 years later, I see that they really made some well crafted disco music that I just didn't have the breadth to enjoy at the time, though I was an awesome disco dancer.

I'll be 35 in December
Some of the stuff I used to like in my teens sounds bloody awful. Naff electro synthetic 80s pop. Yuk.
Worse is watching 80s films etc and seeing all the terrible bouffant permed hairspray heavy hair and shoulderpadded clothes that I used to think were so stylish but now look naff.
Some of it sounds OK, like Guns n Roses, who I never listened to much back then.
My 23 year old boyfriend loves GnR, Queen and other rock from the 80s!
Its crap to say that people of 35+ don't like "modern music" - my God how old do you think we are?? We're not elderly!! There are some good bands around today, especially from my native country of Wales - Goldie Lookin Chain (very funny) and Lostprophets are both good. The only music I don't like today is the endless RnB in the charts and crappy produced pop like Girls Aloud etc
But thats just taste rather than my age, as I know people in their early 20s who are the same.

There's a lot of great music and lousy music at any time. Fortunately, I grew up with the Beatles and Bob Dylan, so some of the very best was imprinted on me. But there's good music out now and I still like to listen sometimes.
I don't listen to the garbage from the 1960s and 1970s because, after all, it is garbage.

I'm 42.
I do like some of the 'new music' coming out, but I find that a awful lot of it is singles oriented (not everything, but a lot) - - meaning there are two or three good songs and the rest is filler.
When I listen to music of my younger days, what I find is that songs from the 'one (or two) hit wonders' - - those songs are still great and can sound contemporary...but the rest of their songs are really bad.
But when I listen to the "album artists" - the big sellers so to speak (and are still around - some anyway)....there might be a chessy song or two (because they were based on events of the times), but as a whole it still stands up.
Not everything, but the LPs that were endering to me then anyway.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi
You and me both. There are still some classics though, such as Nights in White Satin and Forever Autumn, 2 cracking ballads.
But if it's dance music you're talking about, there's the evergreen Hi-Ho Silver Lining that just about every DJ above 40 plays to the masses, mostly girls ( mid forties and fifties, dancing round their handbags.) Been there, done it!!!
But I still like SOME modern music, not a lot because there's too much rap.

I am 31 and i get what ur saying, i do cring at some of the older stuff but some of it I do still like, most of the time i think dam i use to be hella hot for that guy, but now its like eeeww he has way too much hair. lol
I also listen to alot of the new stuff as well, i keep up to date on music.
It maybe a sign we are getting old but then it just may mean we have different taste in music now.
