I Googled "chain smoke my way through the gaps" and got two journal entries where the lyrics were quoted. I bet those two people know the name of your song. Perhaps you could e-mail them. The sites are:

It sounds like it could be any country song! I think 36% of all country songs have those lyrics in them.
