I just heard on Dr. Phil that it was just researched and it's now a known proven fact that people that are finanically stable are genuienly happier than people that are not. I know referencing Dr. Phil how lame. But here is an example: When my husband and I were first starting out I was pregnant and couldn't work because I was high risk so my husband was taking up all the slack. The only job he could get was low paying and we ended up having to go on food stamps and each month it was a struggle to keep up. My husband and I were miserable, we fought all the time and almost got a divorce. A week before I gave birth to my first daughter he scored a better job. We stopped fighting as much and moved into a nicer apartment. Then not long after that he scored a even better job and after the birth of our second daughter we don't fight anymore. Things are calmer and everything because we don't struggle each month to pay the bills and we are able to buy nicer things. Having money and being able to have less stress because of it made us happier. So, I think for everyone it can be different. For us having more money helped us. My inlaws are broke and hardly get by each month, they are miserable and unhappy. But my grandparents who have money and don't have to struggle all the time are happy.
I think that money can buy happiness. It makes life easier and if you have money you get to experience more, take vacations and have less stress. You can afford the health insurance and have food in your fridge. If you have money there is never an issue of should I buy food or get that prescription.
But that's just how I feel. I think anyone can be happy. I think money just helps you feel better. An awful thing now a days. Seeing as back in the pioneer days you didn't need money for all your basic needs, all you needed was some good land and a lot of hard work so meet your needs. And they were all happy.

Among the aphorisms, "Money can buy a bed, but not sleep," I'd especially have to disagree. Since what makes a person happy is not providing for their every whim but rather being fulfilled, look at what the richest person in the world COULDN'T buy:

Long life for him/herself or family and friends -- still as prone to accidents as everyone else.

A good night's sleep (even if you've got many houses, you can still sleep in only one bed).

Peace with yourself -- all our actions touch others, and money can't heal a wound or hold out a hand. It's what people DO with money that makes it good or bad, and consequently makes a person happy or unhappy. Hoard it like . . . Hetta Green, was that her name? and it does no one any good. Give it away like Andrew Carnegie, and the money has the potential to make more money long after the original user is gone.

Would the richest person in the world want something else or ever be sad? You tell me.

Just depends on the individual. I would be a little happier, but there are still some things missing in my life that money can't solve. Now, Bill Gates is happier because he found a solution for all the money he has. Give a lot of it away to those who need it.

Bill Gates said all the money in the world can't buy him more time, or something like that.

No, he doesn't have to do his own laundry. But still he can't buy immortality.

Paul McCartney is worth half a billion dollars at least. But he could not save his wife Linda from cancer.

I would not take any amount of money in exchange for never being able to see my family again.

So time, and family, are things money can't buy. Or replace.

There have been plenty of celebrities that had money and killed themselves. I personally think that having money will give you a better quality of life but if you're just an unhappy person, having money won't fix that by itself. You have to use it in a manner that would enrich your life, make it more productive and rewarding. If I was rich but alone, the money by itself wouldn't make me happy. I hate to see people that have money waste it on stupid crap like jewelry for their dogs. Think of all the stars and celebrities that have money but seemingly miserable lives. Some of them are alcoholics and drug addicts, some of them stay in and out of jail and/or rehab. I don't want drug induced or booze-enhanced happiness. If that's what it means to be rich, then let me keep my little 2 br house and my raggedy Mazda and keep it movin!

Money does not equal happiness. Money can bring pleasure and comfort - but true happiness comes from within. My husband and I struggled financially for years and although are not rich at least we are comfortable - but even in the hardest years I was very happy - working together to built a home, family, wonderful circle of friends brought me a true sense of what life is about.

I think having money and being happy all depends on the person. I would help other less fortunate people if I became rich so therefore I would be happy. If you spend all your money just to have something or to be greedy in the end you will be very unhappy.

Well I am not rich but I do believe money can bring great things to people but it does not bring all happiness. It can not bring good health, make children(if you want any)and I think that those things are very important to me anyway I always say have shelter and food and even if one person loves you and you are healthy then what more do you need

I know money would make ME happy but those rich folks who are born into it and have loads of it..I think that because they have so much money and they get everything they ever wanted or desired..the one thing they probably can't get is a true love and/or health. Then they'll probably be sad.
