If it's a major site, then yes, but if it's a small time website then I'd say no. But really, it just depends on what you want to do.

Some website do require to have a cookie or two installed on the computer, and sometimes if they are disabled then you won't be able to access them, or they won't function correctly.

It's all down to which you care about most, safety, or fun.

Personally I like to experiment with things and see what happens.

If you are very worried about it then try backing up all your important information to a CD-R or maybe even purchase something like a Zip Drive.

Heck, you could even back it up to your IPOD, MP3 Player or Mobile Phone these days, that is if it isn't taken up with your favourite "Choons" :P

Good luck
Ash

When you go to the Tools>Internet Options>Privacy tab>Sites button, you will see a long list of known sites that install cookies for spyware purposes. You can add sites to this list and click Block. You can also add site and click Allow.

Microsoft.com gives you tons of information about securing your computer from Malware (including cookies). I recommend you use Microsoft to answer many questions you might have.

In most cases, YES and in a lot of cases (such as Yahoo etc.) they are necessary for you to continue to be on the site. Just keep an up to date ad-ware program and or firewall on your computer to sort out the good from the bad.

it's 100% safe to have most companies' cookies on your machine - indeed it actually often is truly beneficial to help with log=ins, speed of surfing etc.

You just need to be wary of malicious stuff - easily picked up by some cheap security software.

First, it's "install". Second, it can be a problem if the company is disreputable, but it can be a great convenience, even a necessity, otherwise.
