i was sitting here, hamster making wierd noises again, like a guinea pig, and the rats playing in thier cage, and i thought, can i give them yoplat yogurt, the one with the crushed fruit in it to them without any bad things like sickness happening to them, they its the kind you take to school or work, the aluminum lid, and the fruit mized in, in really small crunchy bits, and fat free. also, would it hurt to give it to my hamsters? i ask because i dont want to be stupid and get my little friends all sick.

so, is it safe to give that kind of yogurt to hamsters and rats, fancy rats or dwarf hamsters?

since you never brush your hamster's teeth (not that you can), you'd better steer away from things like yogurt since the sugar can stay in the hamsters' cheek pouches and create an abcess in their mouth! if you want to feed it to them for the calcium, give them a little milk instead.

I know yogurt is safe for rats, but not sure about the hammies. Hope this helps!

=)

Oh yeah, if you're looking for feed replacement to hold you over, I know low sugar cereal like cheerios are good for rats and hamsters. Rats can eat just about anything you do, so finding food for them is no problem. Hamsters are a little more tricky, but cereal would be good for them if you have it.

established yogurt is extra appropriate than fats loose because they replace fats with sugar, apart from Greek kind fats loose yogurt with has no fats and no sugar further and is tremendous creamy and filling. 100g is purely 50 energy! also, its no longer the actually sweetness that are undesirable for you in 0calorie beverages, although the truth that they are sweet yet furnish you with no means, yet your body senses the beauty and expects means, so it makes you hungry as your body senses the beauty and demands energy and means.

Regular yoghurt is fine for rats. Do be aware the Yoplait stuff is usually full of sugar-- so don't give them much.

I'm not sure, but I would assume that they don't have the stomachs to break down the lactic acid in the dairy product. It won't kill them but it might make they vomit.
