What is an example of an instance when critical thinking had a positive or negative effect on your life?

Critical thinking
In my estimation, that would include my many term papers, semester projects, Master's Thesis and numerous life determining situations where a correct or incorrect choice could make a significant difference in what happens next.
Choosing who to marry was a positive example of good critical thinking. Choosing to do a report on Thomas Mann's book "Magic Mountain" was a positive decision because I was the only one in the class willing to do it and I gained triple credit for doing so. Choosing and completing my Master's Thesis gave me many good contacts that enhanced my life.
I can't think of any times where critical thinking served me wrong because when I take the time to make a critical decision, I make sure it is the right one before I act on it.
