use props and ask the audience questions to keep them interested and start them thinking so they get thinking and involved. you should use a slide show as well and don't do a very serious topic do something you know about and like . also look at them and try walking around or get the audience to do somethings . don't be shy and if you can look them in the face look at the back of the class room just over their heads and speak clear , fluently and don't rush cause you will mess up.

Do it about something that you already have some knowledge about and that you're curious enough to learn more about. That way doing the research won't be such a chore. And if you're throw any random questions by the class or teacher at the end of your 3 minutes, you might know the answer! Do you have any idea what you want to do after graduation? Maybe whatever your future career goal is or what you might want to do in a gap year would be an interesting topic?

You could discuss comic books versus normal picture story books.
A lot of my students won't pick up a book unless it has got pictures in it. Probably so that it looks longer than it really is and makes their assignment look more impressive to their parents!!
Or you could talk about Super Heroes in comic books and their story lines. Which Super Hero has the most powers; when the books first started ,etc.
You obviously have good researching skills. After all, you came on here for help.
You should find lots of info on the Net.
Good hunting and good luck!

The best thing is to do it on soemthing that you are interested in and know a lot about. Do you have any hobbies? When I did this (years and years ago now) I remember I talked about different crystals, which worked really well as I bought some in and passed them round. Another girl discussed a documentary on racism, and several people talked about their different religious beliefs. They always sparked lots of debate.
Whatever you pick don't forget to practice it, have some idea what you are going to say and of the time it takes.

Seeing on how that it is English and that is my worst class that I ever had and I might be wrong about this but I would show them a video on the World Pageant to show the class about other people with different language. Now that would keep the class from following to sleep. The girl's would be looking at there different outfits that they are wearing and the boy's mmmmmmmm would be looking at the pretty girls walking around or maybe not.
See I told you that my English was no good

Everyone loves animals. If you have a pet. Bring in a video or photos of your pet and while the video is playing tell them all about your pet. His name, what he likes to eat, show them his favorite toy, tell them where and how you adopted him, hey maybe your teacher will even let you bring your pet into class? That should make the 3 minutes fly by. Then close with an important statement, like "remember you can always go to your local animal shelter to adopt a homeless cat or dog"

I had to do that in the 11th grade. I did an advertisement for a made up funeral home. You know "Be put to rest with the best" "People are dying to do business with us." I had a drawing of a coffin. When the sheet was open it was full sized (Premiere) fold both ends once it was shorter (Deluxe) fold it so the two ends came together in the middle and it looked like a trash can (Economy) it got lots of laughs. I got a B. The teacher thought the subject matter was a bit inappropriate.

I did this (2 years ago)!! I did anime/manga/ Japanese animation for mine. How about a keen interest of yours, a hobby, or a tv program... you could just stand up and theorise about Lost, for example! It doesnt have to be an intellectual topic, because theyre just testing you on how articulate and expressive you are in your speech, more than the topic itself. You can even do it about a time in history, or a celebrity, but make sure youre well prepared. Good luck :)

I had to do a 10 minute one years ago. Whatever you do it about make sure you prepare well. I just tried to blag it and had to do it again. Do something that you really like and if you use your props correctly you wont have to do a lot of talking .Cos most people are nervous(dont know about you tho)try and enjoy it cos then your audience will.
