Basically they are all copies of the venerable Honda CG125.

For a grand you can get a very tidy used Honda CG 125 and have the real deal. Later ones were made in Brazil but the quality did not suffer an neither did the reliability.

Trust me, go for the used genuine article rather than a new Chinese import!

go to www.autotrader.co.uk and bung in Honda CG125 and see whats out there.

I work for a Honda dealership and we have people coming in all the time with these so called bargain bikes. They are not bargains!!!!! You can't get parts for them, they don't last long, and from all I've seen, they are a waste of your money. If you want a nice little bike, buy yourself one of the small bikes from the Big 4 Japanese manufacturers. I'm partial to Honda, but I've been working with them for over 30 years. If you're on a budget, look for a nice used bike, one with good compression and not over 10 years old. Make sure it's a 4 stroke as these hold up better. If you're worried, spend a little money and take it to your local dealer to have it checked over and the compression checked. Don't Buy a Cheap import, remember, if it's to good to be true........

I haven't seen too many people review them, but just about every time I have seen a magazine test a Chinese bike, the reviewers comment about how their quality isn't up to the competition - whether the competition is Japanese, American, Italian, just about any place not run by Communists.

I've taken a close look at some Chinese bikes, too. I was not impressed. None of the parts seemed to fit together quite right.

And there's the whole question of where you can get parts for one when it breaks.

The bikes themselves are basically Honda or Yamaha bikes from the 1980's, there are millions of them in Beijing when I was out there last.

They are cheap to buy because they do not meet the strict emission regulations of the USA, and the Chinese have found a loophole in the import regulations by selling to small quantity buyers in the UK, usually a batch of ten or so bikes to reduce import duties.

Be careful because you can get stung for VAT after you have purchased from these traders so ensure they say its included.

Incidentally, you can buy these bikes in Beijing for around £300 !!

I have three chinese quads. Two of them are junk, the 90's. The 200 is alright but not near the quality of a Honda. My kids have about 10 hrs of riding time on the 90's and I have to work on them every time they ride. Stay away from them and pay a little extra for the quality.

like fairly much any goods that come from china, they are a load of crap. go to your local hardware shop and inspect the low quality of chinese tools. better off getting a second-hand japanese bike. look at any second-hand japanese car - they go on forever because they were well made at the start with quality materials.
