Ontario , Canada : 14%
Divided between GST (Goods and service Tax) : 6% and PST (Provincial Servive Tax) :8%.
It has recently been dropped from 15% to 14%........Big debate with the change in government , from Liberal to Conservative and ultimately serving the richest people who can afford the priciest goods and pay less tax on GST now (in my opinion).
Each province has its own tax rate though and businesses pay a different rate. Some goods like clothing do not include the PST.
Way too much........! Taxes are very high here too.

Wow - where do you live - I thought the 9% I pay here in San Francisco for non-food was high.

6% in the state of Indiana, except when I shop in Illinois then it is 7.75%, I think.
