- Open Windows Explorer, (or right click on My Computer and pick EXPLORE).
- Then go to the TOOLS menu and pick FOLDER OPTIONS
- Click on the File Types section and look for the media files that you want to change.

For instance, scroll down looking for MID. Then click on the CHANGE button. Scroll to the bottom of the list and look for Windows Media Player. (This should be the one with the ROUND Icon) Then click OK.


Look for various file extensions and change them. But not RAM, RJM and others that begin with R. But look for the tiny Real Player logo

Open up windows media player, go to tools, options then select the file types tab. Check all the boxes for types of files you want windows media player to be the first choice that your computer uses when you play a file

if you dont have it, then go to www.download.com where you can download the latest media player 10, preferably 9 is better to be honest.
You could always delete Real Player, as its crap too.
