The best gift you can give him is the one only you can give -- you. And, I'm not talking about sex. I'm talking about your time, attention, affection, and appreciation. Just plan things that maximize the amount of time for talking, catching up, smooching, planning (your next rendevous), that sort of thing.

give him a great night of a party, and friends and then something personal and special he doesn't expect

hmm...maybe show him around campus if he hasn't seen the campus already, maybe take him to a sporting event or concert nearby if there are any.
Also being enthusiastic goes a long way. I like it when I see my girl friend and she is so happy to see me it makes me feel appreciated.
