It could be the shape of their noses. Deviated septum blocks the air way through the nostrils or it could be sinus problems which are also hereditary. The only way to find out is go to a nose and throat specialist.

Statistically by far the most common cause of nasal obstruction in a 3 year old is enlarged adenoids. They are behind the nose and (as a previous answer has noted) are not visible by looking in the mouth. Your ENT should have either put a fiberoptic scope in the nose to examine the adenoids, or taken an xray to assess their size. Deviated septum causing symptoms in a 3 year old is extremely rare. Plus septal surgery is a big deal in that age group. Adenoidectomy is not. Allergies should be investigated if the adenoids turn out not to be enlarged.

It could be, Maybe there is a blockage. You should really take him to your doctor to make sure that it's not serious. It could be a small problem. I would ask your father when he started having the same problems and see what he did, it could be something running through the family. I would definetly take him to the doctor though. Good Luck

sinus problems like these are known to be hereditary - contact his doctor about it first of all. If you feel the need, I also suggest you contact an herbalist about it - the natural way is always better than a pill.

Probably a deviated septum. The surgical correction sometime works but also may make the condition worse.

The sinuses could be congested due to allergies. He may have polyps in the sinuses as well. You may want to get a sinus X-ray done. Good luck.
