When I came 2 years ago, most people had been here for over 5 years. One by one they started to leave. The first one was a very hard-working talented woman who left 'coz she never got a raise, she was replaced by someone who still sucks at the job and gets paid more. In 2 years, the office of people with 5 years here were gone, all them left because they never got a raise, yet all of them were replaced by someone who got paid more and sucked at the job. I quit on Monday, I'm way too overqualified to make the money I make. I know who I'm getting replaced with, I interviewed that person months ago, and he was way underqualified to work here. Just as I imagined, they offered him more money than what I was making.

Why is my boss so stupid, rather than give qualified people a raise, he rathers hiring underqualified people and pay them more than they people he didn't want to give a raise to. My department is in a lot of trouble because of the new people not cutting it.

well, i think your boss never really took care of the employees in the first place...he hires new people and give them a raise out of whim... or maybe he doesn't want to maintain people that would be a threat to his authority, and would rather hire people he can dictate to.

this may be an excellent time to go to your superiors Superior and discuss this. Now that you have quit, or about to, you can freely bypass chain of command. Who knows? Maybe you can ask for your old bosses position if you have a solid plan to suggest for improving, morale, efficiency, etc. At the least, he can keep an eye on the hirings. If your boss IS the head of your company, you are probably out of luck, but tell him anyway, not in an argumentative way. Unless you want his business to go down in flames.

Don't worry about your former office. Look to the future where you will have a better paying job and maybe a smarter boss. He'll burn the company soon enough. I hope this helps.

I've seen bosses who hate to give credit where credit is due. Rest assured that they may start off making more money than you, but they won't get raises EVER either.

Why worry about it? you did the right thing by quitting before you invested a lot more time in what appears to be a dead end job and company with incompetent management.

Good Luck in your new endeavors, whatever they may be.

If you boss keeps people who know what they are doing, maybe the company won't need him

...so he chooses to keep an influx of new people so he will be indispensable.

Maybe he knows them, or maybe he knows relatives of the people he hires. Then he's doing them a favor. Or maybe he's been bullied into hiring these people somehow.

Maybe your boss doesn't see the situation the same way as you.

Your boss isn't George W Bush by any chance, is it?

Because your boss wants things done his/her way & doesn't care about the repricussions.
Apparantly they don't have much stake in this office business.
Be glad you're leaving do you really want to stay where you're not appreciated?
