In a post to me you said you were from IRAN - which is it? Russia or Iran.

The US media is powerful as it can sway many simple minded people into thinking what it wants them too.
The US Military is MORE powerful in that it stands behind what it says - unlike our media - and defends the USA from evil.

Yeah, you're right. Ahmadi Nejad is just a big teddy bear, he ONLY wants to nuke Israel, no big deal there. I mean, what's wrong with annihilating an entire country?

And he's also tried saying that the Holocaust didn't really happen...well, I bet there's only about three million Jews, gypsies, and other "undesirables" that would disagree with that. But hey, the dead don't talk, so I guess all those people weren't really killed, and the concentration camps were really just amusement parks that were shut down.

Yeah, the Iranian government insists that they're innocent...but I have a friend in Iran who thinks that Nejad is a nut. He's not the only one either.

Iran has proven NOTHING as far as their innocence. If anything, their actions are more and more suspicious.

No, our news media does NOT say we're "winning" in Iraq or Afghanistan. They bash Bush every chance they get. Every success in Iraq is followed by "Seven Marines killed in Iraq today", or "Rape trial for American soldiers continues." And some say our media isn't biased. HA!

You call Americans brainwashed? No, you, my Russian friend, are the EPITOME of brainwashed.

And I DARE you to tell a US soldier that they're nothing to their face.

YOU are evidence that the media is more powerful. They can make or break a war, and either boost morale among soldiers, or destroy it. They're doing more of the latter than the former.

I'd go with the media. Properly executed, media has the capability to reach many people and influence them to hold opinions and take actions. The military can intimidate or destroy some of the general population and media personnel, but this would just build resentment and resistance. Eventually, the people will prevail. The media influences the way people think, and the military is comprised of people, also susceptible to the media's message.

The army can force obedience through action, but the media gets the people to want to obey. In the long run, the media will win. You gotta win the minds of the people.

See like in Lebanon. Israel ends up using force on Hezbollah and, collaterally, the Lebanese public, so the Lebanese public resents them. Hezbollah helps the Lebanese with food and money. Even though it's known Hezbollah actions directly contributed to the violence, they come out looking better to the Lebanese.
