I think this is one of those assignments that you should research on your own. It's a valueable life lesson, and you should consider this an awesome learning opportunity for something that may be coming around the bend in your near future.
Consider not only focusing on college, but also trade and technical schools, or any type of further education.

There are thousands of jobs out there now that did not exist until the last few generations. Education has to keep up somehow and we can only cram so much into our brains by the age of 18.
These days, high school education teaches you "how to get by in life" (very basic and general)... post secondary prepares you for a specific field of work.
Many challenging and rewarding jobs can only be obtained by getting education first. You cannot work your way up and into them easily if at all... college basically prepares you to get an interview.
Society cannot advance without most of the population having a higher level of specialized education.
I'm sure you could expand that into a dozen pages if you think about it... :)

Honestly? it's not.
There is a Bud light "Real men of Genuis" ad for "Mr. Fancy Coffee shop pourer." It goes....."What do you do with a masters in Art History?" "You get a nose ring and pour coffee for a living." "Why is it called a Latte?" "Because, costs alot-ee, And it takes alot-ee time to make."
You don't really think those spring break morons actually study back home do you? Your avg. plumber makes more per year than your avg. english major.
However, since High schools are so bad today. A Bacherlors degree is needed even to manage a Mc Donald's.

Colleges house experts in fields of study and practice. You don't need to go to college to learn how to cut hair, fix a car or write well - there are lots of successful self-taught academics, and many more self-taught practitioners. But at college or university, you will find experts in your discipline, and colleagues at your level. You can learn with them as you make lifelong friends. Most important, colleges and universities usually have good learning resources: libraries, equipment, and teachers.

Because without a college education today you will never have a succesful job, unless you are one of the lucky few who can start a successful company or you're an amazing athlete with superstar talent. Without a college education you will be saying "Would you like fries with that?"

College provides training and opportunities for a specific field that you desire to work in. It opens up many doors, but it all depends on your drive and ambition.

It's not just about jobs. You need to develop your mind. I'm so tired of people talking "jobs, jobs, jobs," and "money, money, money" when it comes to college. There are lots of ways to make money. You need to stimulate your gray matter, so you can be more understanding of the world and its people all of your life. Also you learn how to learn, and along with understanding how the world ticks it does help you to make more money!
