The overt fraud that has come to pass as legitimate in Mexico's electoral process should concern all people of the world. Through this, the following horrible example is being set: that is, that the genuine will of the majority of the people pales in comparison to what the will of corporations and those in power have. The decree of the "magistrates" to declare Calderon as the "president-elect" is a big slap in the face of the pueblo. What the unanimous decree of these individuals to reach the aforementioned conclusion leaves evident is that these were bought off with millions of dollars from vested interests in having Calderon as the "victor." Therefore, falling short of making the cry to a call of arms, what needs to be done in order to end such insidious injustice and prevalent corruption in Mexico in particular, and Latin America (and the world) in general?

Whatever is done, Bush needs to keep his nose out of it. It is not an American problem-we have enough problems that Bush has caused.

It has not been proven that the Mexican presidential election was fraudulent, the controversy being attributed to propaganda from Lopez Obrador. He hasn´t been able to back up any of his claims with facts. There were numerous international witnesses to the election, including people from his own PRD party. The PRD members would not have signed approval at each voting station if they hadn´t agreed with the results. His own people are starting to turn their backs on him, especially after he crashed Fox´s final state of the nation address.

What does Mexico need to do to stop injustice and corruption? Start paying its law enforcement officers more and enforce severe penalties for anyone caught bribing or accepting bribes. It will be a long slow process, but progress is already being made.

Mexico is corrupt but I do not believe the election needs to be the focus. The election was a fraud, but I believe both sides are equally guilty. To put it bluntly Calderon cheated better than his opponent. Until the Mexican people decide that they have had enough of the government corruption it will continue. Corruption is a part of everyday life why would people expect any different.

Corruption will continue as long as Mexico makes easy money from oil. In the absence of oil, capital will leave the country for less corrupt places. Then the economy will collapse. Then only out of desperation, will they reign in corruption and the economy will be begin to thrive.

See Nigeria, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia...and any number of other oil based economies.

The people of those countries need to stand up to end it. The problem is they are just resigned to it. Until one of their own can motivate them to reclaim their democracies they will continue to act like sheep and accept as inevitable the one thing they can change if they wanted to.
