Ive noticed with research that more and more people are becoming spiritually aware. I am curious to see how many of you out there are actually aware of your spiritual nature and if so, how many of you think that the 5th day of the mayan calandar will bring about a revolution in consiousness...

I think it more has to do with our hunger for meaning, than with a Mayan calendar not commonly in usage, that will bring about an increase in spirituality.

I have stayed spiritual/religious all my life but I see people out there have changed because they think it's going to be the end of the world, and the media needs something to talk about to they play on peoples sensitivities. Several times people have thought that the world was coming to an end only to have some cataclysmic event happen yet the world and it's people continue living. I figure the mayans ran out of paper (or stone tablets) to complete their calendar, or the guy making the stone tablets was let go from his job, or the guy got burglarized and his knife he made the calendar with got stolen, or maybe they ran out of pictures for their calendar, or the artist died or something, or maybe they knew they were being taken over by some other nation that had a different kind of calendar (like roman numerals or something). I don't believe the world will end when their calendar stops nor do I believe IT would be the cause of any kind of revolution at all.

I sure hope not. The world is screwed up enough with all the religion and spiritual crap that people think is going to bring us all together. If the past 2000 years are any indication, religion is tearing us apart and taking humanity away from its potential. Instead of focusing on all of the silly ooh-aah drivel, we should accept that we are just one of many lifeforms on this planet -- no better and no worse than any of the others -- and focus on ourselves as the only species capable of making the world a better place to live. Religion serves only to divide people. We'd all be better off without it.
