None of this calender crap, No one in their right mind would go through the trouble to make a 750 ton calender.
As an architect, it looks closer to an early temple, or market place.
You have to remember the wood structures would have rotted away by now.

No one knows for sure but it lines up perfectly with the seasons of the year, so it was likely part of a calender or a way to know when to do things like harvest or plant.

One would observe where the sun rose and set in relation to it and that gives you a yearly calandar.

the idea of the calendar is one speculation and probably the most accurate one but the most popular opinion is that no one TRULY knows what it is. a bit of a mysterious but i believe it to be some sort of calendar or something to do with rituals.
