She has apparently been at some lunatic centre for a long time. I just want my jewellry back because my mum gave me this jewellry and it means alot to me. My husband has hit me and pushed me around when I bring this up....my two year old son hates his dad....he tells his dad not to hit my mummy. I recently had broken ribs because he punched me so hard. then he starts bribing me with presents and money...which I dont accept...I tell him I want to leave and he gets sad so I just try to get along.

sounds like to me this is the least of your worries if your husband is hitting you.I would tell him to go **** himself and leave him and his bratty little daughter.

Reporting the theft will likely cause problems between you and your husband..... But your step-daughter need someone to help her instead of enabling her as you husband seems so willing to do....... While I do agree that she sounds like an attention seeker she also has some mental health issues that need to be dealt with...

I say report not only the theft but also the suicide attempts so when she is picked up for the theft the authorities are prepared for her antics...

I would. I just kicked out my 19 year old step daughter for going through locked doors at our house. I told her dad that if she even tries to break into our house that I will press charges. Suicidal or not. She knew exactly what she was doing and being suicidal is not an excuse to steal.

Report her tough love is real love. If you let her get away with this her attention seeking behavior will increase until one day she over does it and there is no turning back. If it were not for someone who forced me to face my behaviors (very similar ones) I would be dead by now. I was at the time 18 years old now I am almost 50 thanks to my Dad for turning me in.

hard question to answer. If you DID report her,and it ended in perhaps (God forbid) a successful suicide attempt, your jewelery would very, very quickly become of no significance at all.You would have to live with guilt for the rest of your life.
On the other hand,if she's allowed to get away with it,she might eventually end up in prison if she thinks she won't get punished ( which of course she WILL one day).
Its a very difficult balancing act here hun,and I'm not qualified enough to give you a definite answer.Good luck...you'll probably need it.

Just read your aditional piece hun.For God's sake, report her and report him and get the hell out of there.

Yes, it's your property but be cautious in doing so. Do not alert your husband to this just yet until he knows the severity of the situation. Maybe have her see a psychologist afterward.

well, its high time you stop trying to let this marriage work....if it was just the daughter troubling we could have sorted out but here your husband himself is abusive, then whyb do you wanna be with him and spoil the growth and future of your lil one and what are you getting being with him, accept for insults, disrespect and sorrows!!you deserve a better life than this and a better person to be with, who would love and respect you equally!!think and think wise!!good luck!!

it depends on her age. if she is coverd under juvenile correctional act, go ahead, and report it. if she is a major, first talk to her, tell her to return it, or face the consequences, if she doesn't yield, report. tell the authorities, that she is mentally imbalanced, so they will be watchful.
talk to your husband about the need for correctional counselling for this girl, and settle the issue.

If he knows she's suicidal, why hasn't he gotten her into some sort of counseling? Sounds like she could use it.

And there are consequences to stealing. She needs to be reminded of that.

Tell your husband not to be supportive of his daughters cliptomaniac and suicidal tendencies..
If he will not listen to you,.. report.. you must because,,, if you will not,, she.. and he... could turn you upside down.. and you will be at the lossing end..
Do it now
