I am moving into a house with a two car garage, but the doors are manual. I plan to use my kids as garage door openers for a while, but on average how much do they cost to buy and install?

They are easy to install and when you are finished they will pass the test in perfect order, but when you are coming home and it is raining like democrats and republicans, it will get stuck half way up and half way down. Now, how bad the situation is depends on your attitude and your level of daily guilt. So, you will immediately know how much money you saved by not paying for the installation of the product. Act accordingly!

Prices will range widely. Sears, Home Depot, Menards, Lowes.carry them.
Unless you are very handy, I'd spend the money to have it installed. They can be difficult to install and time-consuming if you're not a real do-it-yourselfer.

Try Sears, where you can get them from $134 to $200 or more.
