I hate football, but I live close to Indy, so I hear about Peyton all the time. I know he is really good at football, but he also works with many charities. He is a kind person and I think that says more about him than his football talent!

He has outstanding stats. He has never won the "big game" in college or in the pros. He is an outstanding QB technically and has a tremendous knowlege of the game, reading defenses, calling the correct audible at the line, etc. Maybe he is the best QB that has never won a big game. The previous answer using the comparison to Dan Marino is very apt, except Dan Marino did make it to the SB once (in a losing effort). Peyton has yet to make it to the SB and I really believe last year was the best chance the Colts will get. I hope I'm wrong because I would love to see the Colts get there and win. The "monkey" on Peyton's back is more like a gorilla.

Peyton Manning is the best QB in the NFL.
If you look at statistics, he has proven his status as #1 QB.
He's the only QB picked in the first round of most fantasy leagues, other than a running back.
He's the only QB in the NFL to know every Defense in the league.
Facts dont lie, people do. So believe it when I say Peyton Manning is NOT over-rated.

No he not over-rated. He is one of the best QB's in the league. Just because he hasn't won a superbowl doesn't mean he isn't great. Did Dan Marino win a Superbowl? One player is not a team. Peyton can't win every game by himself. It seems when they lose he gets all of the blame. "Peyton can't win the big one". What about Harrison, Wayne, James, aren't they on the field too.
I am not a Colts fan so you know. I am a Cowboys fan.

Here are the facts about Manning. He played at Tennessee for 4 years the year after he left, they win a National title. He couldn’t beat the Gators when they played (four times in a row he lost the one game every year he had to win). For the Colts he’s had all-star receivers and running backs and have won 1-playoff games once getting blown out by the Jets. The Great Manning couldn’t score a point when he needed to. Hell between all 3 Manning they have one a total of 1 playoff game. That is 3 Manning winning 1 playoff game. Hell it’s funny Ben Rothenberg has won at least 1 playoff game every year he’s played. Yes, I think he is over rated. (Add insult to injury when Johnny Unitus passed away he wanted to wear the high-tops spikes that Johnny U wore for that game. However, by league rules you can’t change your uniform in midseason or you are fined he didn’t do it. The Raven Kyle Bolier did and was fined oh and Manning make like 10 times more then Bolier)

I think he is a great QB, very definitely worthy of consideration as the best in the league at this time. The only other one I would say could come close currently is Tom Brady. Rating either of them as the best is not overrating them, to me.
Where I think Manning gets a little overrated is when people say he is the offensive coordinator. While he is very smart about his position, I think it is a bit of a stretch to say he is the offensive coordinator, even though he does meet with them, and work on ideas. If you put him in true control of the entire offense in Indy, I think they would be less successful.

Peyton Manning is not only the most over-rated player CURRENTLY in the NFL. He may be the most over-rated player in the HISTORY of the league. As soon he plays in a game that actually means something, he turns into Ryan Leaf.
