I do agree with you. It does seem that when a Detroit team gets the best record, they choke in the playoffs. Better hope they don't get the best record. Look at the Reds in 1990. They led wire-to-wire, but did not get the best record and won it all.

It will be new york, the tigers are falling apart more every day.
Either the Mets or the Cardinals in the NL.
In the national league the worst record belongs to the cubs. After being second to last almost all year, the cubs have continued their pathetic ways and sucked it up worse than the pirates (I did not think that is possible since the pirates are terrible) but leave it to the cubs to set new standards on playing terrible baseball, choking, starting players that suck, mismanaging or injuring the good players and having the combined managerial and coaching knowledge and success of a stick of gum. The cubs have always been the most pathetic professional sports franchise of any team 100 years or older. 100 years, almost as long as the cubs have demonstrated how truly bad baseball can be played.

I think the Yankees are going to catch Detroit. The only thing that can stop it is if Joe Torre decides to rest starters down the stretch to try and get guys healthy for the post season.
Detroit won't have that luxury, as their lead in the central has shrunk quite a bit.

Well if the Tigers keep playing the way they have in August and the start of September, not only will they not have the best record in the AL but they will be lucky to make the post season.
I say the Yankees. Despite the fact that I hate them and love the Tigers.

Detroit will probably edge out the Yankees by a game or two.

Who cares?? It's who wears the ring at the end of the season. With the playoff system the way it is it doesn't matter. Look at the 1973 Mets. 82-79 took the A's to 7 games.

The Yankees are hot, and they will end up with the best record. But even if they don't, they'll beat the **** out of any team they face.
